Cost Accountant

Summary

The Cost Accountant reports to the Controller and is a hands-on position interacting with various personnel levels analyzing actual manufacturing costs and preparing reports comparing standard costs to actual production costs.
 

Description

  • Developing cost accounting system using our current ERP software
  • Reviewing Current Cost Accounting process and controls and recommending changes
  • Implementing new processes and procedures and constantly monitoring their effectiveness
  • Documenting Cost Accounting and inventory processes and procedures
  • Monitoring production variances
  • Preparing monthly reports and review with Manufacturing including Purchase Price, Labor and Overhead variances
  • Coordinating Physical Inventories and cycle counts and reconciling to general ledger
  • Maintaining standard costs for components and assemblies
  • Accumulating and applying overhead costs in conjunction with GAAP
  • Reviewing and validating WIP valuation monthly
  • Assisting with financial audits as required
  • Responsible for cost accounting methods and activities including documenting changes in Accounting practices.
  • Prepare, analyze and present cost audit findings.
  • Cost control systems-ensure cost data is allocated correctly and take corrective action.
  • Identify cost reduction opportunities.
  • Analyze product line profitability to establish pricing and cost requirements.

Requirements

  • Bachelor degree in Accounting or Finance
  • 5 to 10 years relevant work experience.
  • Advanced computer skills specifically in Microsoft Office and ERP System.
  • Self-motivated and self-directed, able and willing to take initiative.
  • This position requires considerable interaction and involvement with all levels in other departments.
  • Must have strong analytical skills with particular attention to detail.
  • Must have strong analysis experience.
  • An ability to work independently with attention to detail and the ability to work on multiple projects at a time are essential.

  • Experience in a high volume manufacturing environment
  • Previous experience in designing a cost accounting system
  • Experience in a multiple site manufacturing environment
  • Ability to analyze and design effective cost accounting system
  • Expertise in Excel
  • Proficiency in Word and PowerPoint
