Electrical Power Engineer
 
Description of Role:
The winning candidate will apply practical electrical engineering expertise to deliver thorough requirements and specifications for major electrical power equipment, develop & execute testing of OEM power products, develop field installation and checkout procedures for electrical systems, and develop trouble shooting guidelines for field manuals. Provide general electrical engineering expertise to support field wiring optimization, select and document cabling, connectors, and sensors, debug electricals and electronics in lab and in the field.
 
Background:
·         BS EE or ET from an American school
  • 4+ years experience as an electrical engineer working in product development, power distribution, or PV systems
  • 2+ years responsible for designing and documenting NEC compliant power collection or distribution systems
  • Outstanding English communication skills
Required demonstrated expertise:
  • Development of specifications for electrical equipment
  • Specify cables, connectors, circuit breakers, fuses, terminal hardware, transformers
  • Knowledge of NEC requirements
  • Fundamental knowledge of AC power theory, reactive power, 3 phase AC
  • Ability to troubleshoot basic electrical circuits
  • Heavy utilization of spreadsheets for misc. analysis, BOMs, task tracking, etc.
  • Computer savvy, Word, PowerPoint, Visio
 
Preferred experience & expertise:
  • Design of PV systems, including strings, combiners, MPPT, inverters, etc.
  • Experience with CPV (including 1- or 2-axis tracking systems)
  • Optimization of field wiring design for cost vs energy production
  • Ability to write procedures for field installation and trouble shooting
  • Ability to debug prototype equipment, wiring , sensors, control systems
  • PE license for electrical engineering
  • Ability to generate 1-line electrical drawings with AUTOCAD
  • Ability to generate electrical wiring diagrams
  • Ability to review mechanical drawings of electrical and electronic cables
  • Knowledge of RS-485 serial communications
  • Knowledge of SCADA systems
  • Knowledge of EMI countermeasures to ensure fidelity of analog signals
  • Experience with data acquisition and noise immunity
  • Experience with 2-20ma current loop data acquisition
  • Ability to design and troubleshoot basic digital and analog circuitry
