CPV Solar Power Plant Sustainability

Amonix Power Plants Provide Sustainable Energy with Advanced Solar Technology

Increasingly in our society, both practicality and public sentiment are demanding a greater use of clean, renewable energy sources, such as solar energy.

Amonix is ready to help utility companies meet this challenge. We are just as environmentally mindful in the manufacture of our concentrated photovoltaic solar technology systems as we are in the production of renewable energy by those systems.

The belief in sustainable practices in developing solar technology has been inherent in the culture at Amonix since the doors first opened 23 years ago. An ethic that is still respected today, we know being “green” is about much more than just producing zero-emission electricity.

A Long and Healthy Life for Amonix Solar Energy Power Plants

Producing green energy is also about minimizing the amount of material used, employing a sustainable manufacturing process, respecting the need for water conservation, and developing environmentally friendly business practices – all throughout the life cycle of the product, not just up front.

An independent study has validated that Amonix meets these goals. As recently as March 2010, Columbia University Center for Life Cycle Analysis (LCA) conducted a study of the cradle-to-grave performance of the Amonix 7700 System, finding its lifetime greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions to be among the lowest in the photovoltaic industry.

For example, an Amonix system operating in the southwestern United States accomplishes the following:

  • Produces all the energy required in its life-cycle in only 8-11 months of operation
  • Achieves an Energy Payback Time (EPBT) of 0.70 yrs
  • Generates clean, renewable energy, leading the industry with a life‐cycle GHG emission of 12 g CO2‐eq./kWh.
